Two good white boxers will be featured on HBO this weekend. Gatti is always a fan favorite but I wonder if his numerous wars have taken its tollon him (like it did Erik Morales). I have not seen much of Thomas Daamgard but I think he has a shot. Welterweight and Cruiserweight are the only mid-to-upper level weight divisions without a white champion. The winner of this one (both are welters) will hopefully get a title shot and remedy that.

I am rooting for Daamgard because his upside is better than Gatti at this point.

Hatton is the jr. welterweight champ and they were talking about a Gatti matchup. Is that the weight class for this bout? At any rate, this means that the Hatton - Mayweather fight is more likely to happen sooner than later.

Daamgard has a history of pulling out of fights. He supposedly can fight, but all his bouts take place in his homeland so you never get to see him do his thing. All things considered Gatti appears ripe for the picking.

They were talking about Hatton-Gatti but it would be hard for Gatti to get back down to 140 (he is now 147). I heard Hatton will fight an Arab fighter living in France for his mandatory/tuneup this spring . Mayweather (who is fighting Zab Judah this spring) seems to be in Ricky's sights for this summer/fall.

Gatti showed that he still has something left in the tank.Even when Gatti chooses to box he's entertaining and he can take out an opponent out late.Had he lost this fight it would have been over, but he lives to fight another day probably against Carlos Baldomir.I must say I don't really care to see two good white fighters going at it,I'd perfer to see white vs black. It might have been Jaxvid or Don when they said they would like to see all black teams against all white teams in football.Me too.But I want to see it in every sport particularly boxing. It doesn't matter if I don't know the participants in a fight,if it's a white vs black I'll go for the white guy.

It's disappointing to see a European fighter- especially an undefeated champ- lose his debut in America, even to another white fighter. It makes me think of other Europeans coming here and getting embarrassed. Not something I want to think about. I'd rather see them come here and beat some American ass, preferably non-white. (Sorry, I'm in an anti-US mood after watching our horrible leader deliver his State of the Dis-Union Address last night.)
