Alex Knipp 6-1, 185# RB

Knipp is a senior at a suburban Cleveland HS which plays in a fairly tough conference, including last year's Div II state champ, Avon Lake. In 2004 as a junior he rushed for over 1800 yards and 25 td. This season, he's on pace for over 2000 yards, if he's not there already, depending on 10/21 action. Last week, he rushed for 382 yards on 50 carries, breaking his own school record, which he set the week before! I've spoken to a co-worker who officiates hs football. He commented on Knipp's excellent speed. Being on the lean side, I wouldn't be surprised if he's converted to wr or db if he attends a Div I school. Anyway his case is worth keeping an eye on.

Update on Knipp: finished regular season with 2008 yds, 27 tds, and an 8 something yds per carry. He ranked second in rushing yardage in northeastern ohio area behind one of the nation's top rb recruits.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that Knipp has orally committed to attend Ball State (Mid-American Conference). According to the report, Knipp is slatedto be adb/kick returner. Its unfortunate that after gaining over 4000 yards (my initial stat figures were a bit off) and scoring nearly 60 td's over the course of his junior and senior seasonsas a rb heis projected to play defense at Ball State. However, it is somewhat understandable given his lean build. Best of luck to Knipp. He's going to need it.
